Savannah, GA

For our first adventure of 2022, we chose Savannah. It had been a place a little familiar to us that we had always wanted to experience longer. We departed on an early flight and did not waste any time by kicking it off with a food tour of this wonderful city.  Our stay was going to be a brief one being a 3-night stay in the city, followed by a 3 night stay over in St. Simmons Island, and jumped right in.  Reflecting back on this trip, especially looking through the photos it was great to immerse ourselves in the downtown. Be part tourist, but also just enjoy the history that the streets and houses expunge as you walk through the city.

Savannah Foodie & Pub tour took us through 6 places within the city with dishes spanning from shrimp & grits, shaved ice, pizza, and a few other surprises along the way. The tour guide was great and gave some history of the locations, and the city in general. This 3-hour tour seemed to go by fast! We were at our last place, and seriously felt it had only been an hour. Afterward, we headed to Peregrin (from a recommendation from the tour guide) for a rooftop sunset which was a stunning view of the city accompanied by an awesome bartender that we met (Tyler). If we could recommend only one place to go in the city for a view, THIS would be it.

Dinner was simple as we were trying to avoid the “pending” storm (which ended up coming through much later overnight) at our hotel restaurant Paccasi.  The service was great and we were tired from our early flight, so we were ready to call it a day.

As we worked during the day, a break was a necessity for lunch and we stumbled on to an amazing Paris Market for some tea & macrons! That escape was just what we had needed, allowing us for a break from our screens and to enjoy a bit of the sunshine.

After work we went back to Peregrin and luck was on our side for an amazing sunset.  We had to pull ourselves away from the great vibe that the place had to head to dinner at Husk. We had always wanted to try to eat at the one in Charleston but never were lucky enough to grab a reservation. Let’s just say the food did not disappoint. The ambiance of the restaurant, in unison with the stellar menu just offers an excellent experience to partake in. This all despite it being a bit chilly, they had heaters for outside seating, the food was spectacular! Another place that lived up to a recommendation we had from a local was The Alley Cat Lounge. This place we knew was going to be a good time, just from the coaster saying “This is a Big Kids Bar”. The ambiance from this place from the extensive paper menu, to decor was top notch. If you are in the area, certainly stop by for a quick drink.

On our final day in Savannah, we awoke early and drove out to Tybee Island. Though we were hoping for a sunrise, the weather did not want to cooperate. After a day of work, we went to our favorite place (if you haven’t caught the pattern yet) to savor the last great views of the city as the sunset. Though the chapter was closing on the Savannah adventure, we were looking forward to our next one in St. Simons.
